Prof. S.C. Sharma is an educationist, researcher, administrator, technocrat, musician and a man with a mission to serve the society with relentless devotion and sincerity. At present he is the Honorary Professor of Law and Forensic Materials of Jain Group of Institutions, Bengaluru.

 With vast teaching and administrative experience, Dr. Sharma is an educationist with human touch and is known for innovation, out of the box thinking and visionary leadership. He is the former Vice Chancellor of Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai and formerly, the Vice-Chancellor of Tumkur University Tumkur, Vice-Chairman, Karnataka State Higher Education Council, Government of Karnataka and Principal, R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore. He is a distinguished Adviser for many academic institutions and academic bodies across the country. He was Visiting Scientist for Department of Aerospace, Indian Institute of Science (I.I.Sc.,). He is a Hon’rary Distinguished Professor in the Centre for Energy, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, (IIT-G). 

 He has Ten doctoral conferment based on his research work from various Universities including Mysore University and Deakin University, Australia. He holds the Doctor of Law from the prestigious National Law School of India University, Bengaluru. On 10-1-2024, Dr. S.C. Sharma has been conferred with prestigious ‘Nadoja’ award from Hampi Kannada University. At present he is conferred with TWELVEHonoris Causa from Government supported universities.

 His distinction as an academician and administrator has brought laurels to him in the form of many positions and distinguished position. He has won many accolades and awards including the prestigious international ‘THERMEC’-2013 Distinguished Award at Las Vegas, USA, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, “National Integration Award” from the Universal Spiritual Awareness Organisation, New Delhi, Sri Raja Ramanna Award from Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, Honorary Fellowship by Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA)–2020, Department of Science & Technology, Govt., of Karnataka, (16-2-2021) besides many more honours. Prof. Sharma has authored two books along with Nobel Laureates. On 12^th January 2023, Dr. Sharma delivered a special lecture on ‘Contribution of Vijnaneshwara to the Indian Jurisprudence’ at University Law College, Bangalore University. On 5^th January 2024, he delivered a Special Guest Lecture at Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Basavangudi, Bengaluru, on topic: ‘Swami Vivekananda–Vishva Guru’.

 Dr. Sharma is also a distinguished musician. He has been recognised for his excellence and proficiency in the field of music through recognitions like: Artist of the Year by Bangalore Gayana Samaja, Bangalore, Govt. of Karnataka, prestigious ‘Karnataka Kalashree’ Award for Excellence in Music and Ganakalashree Award for his contributions to the field of music. He has trained thousands of orphans and destitute women and youths in various Engineering trades. On
23-1-2023, he was awarded ‘Prof. S. Kannaiyan Memorial Award (for the year 2022)’ during 13^th NABS National conference held on 23-1-2023 at Periyar University, Salem, Tamilnadu.

 He has made immense contribution in the field of research. He is a distinguished scholar with many achievements to his credit. These scientific efforts have resulted in over 414 research papers, 18 books and 6 patents. His publications have earned more than 11,581 citations with
h-index of 56 from Scopus and to his credit 137 research papers published in refereed proceedings with ISBN number. 

 He is Member, Indian Ranking Society (IRS), New Delhi, Indian National Commission for Co-operation with UNESCO (INCCU), New Delhi, Life Member, Institute for Social & Economic Change, (ISEC) Bangalore, and he was in the Search Panel to select Vice Chancellors for Central and State supported universities. In the global survey by Stanford University, USA, Dr. S.C. Sharma’s name has figured amongst as one of the ‘World Top 2% Scientists from India’ (Sl. No.226 in its list). Dr. Sharma has been appointed as Honorary Advisor to the Governor of Maharashtra (21-2-2022), Governor of Meghalaya (4-4-2022), Department of Education, Government of Uttarakhand (4-10-2022) and on 24-2-2022 he has been nominated as ‘Nodal Person’ for ‘Bharat Net Broadband Connectivity Project’ for entire country from the Department of Higher Education. Bangalore North University has nominated him as Chairman for the Expert Committee constituted for starting of new courses in affiliated colleges to start job oriented courses for the students. On 22-6-2022, Dr. S.C. Sharma has been elected as one of the Board of Directors for Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN), for a tenure period of 3 years. He also holds Honorary Visiting Associate-ship at Inter University Accelerator Centre, (IUAC) an autonomous centre of UGC, New Delhi from 26-6-2022. He has also been appointed as Executive Council nominee for Court of Central University of Rajasthan.

 As the FormerDirector of NAAC, Dr. Sharma has ushered in a new era of assessment and accreditation process in the country including ICT based A& A process, customized manuals for institutions viz, Health Sciences, Sanskrit, Open and Distance Learning (ODL), Dual Mode, Teacher Education and Yoga institutions, launching of e-Assessor Orientation Program and online Assessor module, in house development of Issue Management Software (IMS), provisioning of Cloud Storage, linkages with national and international agencies, launching of Digital Library, Green initiative, national and international linkages. He is instrumental in establishing the Research and Analysis Wing at NAAC and mainly responsible for many State-wise Analysis reports and research publications undertaken by the Internal and external experts. He is eco friendly and initiated many infrastructural developments at NAAC. He is an amalgamation of an excellent administrator and a passionate researcher with unlimited perseverance and zeal to catalyze the transformation of higher education in India to global benchmarks where education encompasses quality and humanity.
